Water Weights' water filled proof load bags were originally designed in 1979, as a safer and more cost effective alternative to solid weights, for testing the safe working load of cranes on North Sea oil & gas installations.
At that time it cost over £1,000 per tonne to ship steel offshore. Since the conception of Water Weights, in excess of £135 million has been saved by the UK offshore industry in shipping, storage and labour costs.
Water Weights are used offshore for the following load test applications:
- Cranes
- Lifeboats
- BOPs
- Winches
- Underdeck Pad Eyes
